It happens to us all at some point... fire up the engine and it runs for a while then SILENCE!
Well it happened to me last week when running in the auxiliary engine. It was no problem as such... just a little annoying because it was me who contaminated the fuel!!!
I had been using the fuel can for other things and had previously emptied the fuel out of a lawnmower into it prior to servicing the mower. I had cleaned out the can prior to refilling but I don't think I did it thoroughly enough... there was evidence of bits of something in the bottom of the can and clearly, I had poured some of those bits into the auxiliary blocking the filter.
So, I have replaced the fuel filter and spark plug (just in case) and all is well again but a couple of lessons there... make sure your fuel is clean, and use a filtering funnel when filling.
It did give me the opportunity to get the cover off the Suzuki DF6 and have a nose around... that experience might come in handy on the trip.
