Well it seemed like a great idea

A weekend in Lowestoft, airshow, powerboats, sunny weather… what more could I want?

Well, it wasn’t such a good idea as it turned out. I am the very first boat that people see when they enter the marina and so far I have been hit twice on my berth. Once yesterday by a rib and once in the middle of the night. Both, in my opinion, through bad boat handling and poor planning and both completely avoidable… again, in my opinion.

The damage is not too serious… I hope… a bent bow roller fitting, so much so that I cannot use the anchor so it needs fixing before I can go to sea. Also, the yacht in the night ran his bow anchor along my starboard guardrail and possibly stressing the mountings. I will have to have a close look at that today.

I am not a happy bunny right now as you can imagine especially as I have had to stay up for the rest of the night on boat watch in case some others want to have a go at my little boat.

…………….wrong choice of phrase there Paul. Apparently, you are the first boat they don’t see:-(
Did you offer them a choice of words, opticians or boat-handling courses? Hope the damage isn’t as bad as first thought and doesn’t delay you. Yep weather is changing it’s mind once again. That weather fairy is really being a little imp at the moment.
Enjoy the airshow & power-boats and sun. Thick fog now in Aberdeenshire. Was just a Haar yesterday with the sun trying to peep through. Never quite made it though and has gone to other parts!
