Forecasts - Can’t live with ‘em, can’t live without ‘em!
Well, I am not at all surprised that the inshore waters forecast now includes a strong wind warning and moderate to rough sea state. Until this morning it was forecasting the strong wind but still forecast slight seas… clearly that didn’t make any sense and I predicted rougher seas and hence delayed my departure. NOW, they have put in the rough seas.
This is a classic example of not taking a forecast totally at face value. It is always worth remembering that a forecast is just that and is not ever to be relied upon. I prefer to do my own forecast based on reading the other forecasts, reviewing the charts of pressure, wave height and wind and reading several of the well-known weather sites… it builds me a picture and I can then make my own assessment of what will happen.
It is looking increasingly like I may be here for a day or two and Friday or Saturday are looking possible perhaps… but at this range, as they say, your guess is as good as mine!
